2029 Lamborghini Lanzador EV: Everything We Know So Far

Jul 11, 2023

Lamborghini announces its entry into the EV segment with a bang! Here's all you need to know about the 2029 Lanzador EV.

Sustainability is the need of the hour, and the automotive industry is at the forefront of driving the electric revolution. While many top automobile makers are part of the collective decarbonization drive, it won’t be complete until Lamborghini joins the bandwagon. The world of high-performance electric vehicles will lack inspiration without Lamborghini. This brand has been synonymous with futuristic cars since its inception in 1963 in the quaint Italian commune of Sant'Agata Bolognese. From the two-seater 350 GTV that boasted a V-12 Engine to the ultra-modern Huracán Sterrato equipped with a V-10 engine, Lamborghini, the pioneers of automobile innovation, has played a massive role in pushing automobile engineering to the limits.

With the announcement of "Direzione Cor Tauri" in 2021, Automobili Lamborghini has set a clear path toward decarbonization. As part of the same, Lamborghini unveiled its concept car, the Lanzador, at the Monterey Car Week. Lamborghini has been teasing us all with the announcement and bits and pieces of information about the Lanzador for a while. Upon unveiling, the futuristic model has impressed everyone keen on what happens within the world of cars. The Italian automotive company plans to bring this concept to a working vehicle by 2028.

Lamborghini has left no stones unturned when it comes to drool-worthy luxury sports vehicles. Jarama, Miura, Countach, Gallardo, Diablo, Murcielago, Huracan, Aventador, and Urus form to be the iconic nameplates under the Italy-based brand's name. However, as the world started moving towards more sustainable options, Lamborghini, even though a bit late, joined the movement in 2021. Called "Direzione Cor Tauri", Lamborghini's plans involved the electrification of their entire lineup by 2024.

The Italian luxury sports car company launched the LB744 which became its first-ever hybrid sports car. Other names like Sián FKP 37 and Reveulto joined the lineup that would be a part of Lamborghini's HPEV (High-Performance Electrified Vehicle) lineup. The company also revealed its plans to hybridize every vehicle under its belt. Lamborghini also created a breakthrough with the announcement of its first-ever all-electric hypercar — SC63 LMDh at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed that was held last month.

However, this hypercar was meant to be carrying Lamborghini's legacy in the racing department. It wasn't until the announcement of the 2029 Lanzador EV, did Lamborghini got to mark its entry into the all-electric production car department. The Italian automotive manufacturer has decided to prove its mettle in the production EV sector with this futuristic spaceship-like car. The concept of Lanzador has drawn design inspiration from legendary models like Murciélago, Countach LPI 800-4, and Sesto Elemento. This concept car is all set to launch in 2028.

The Gran Turismo 2+2 concept gives the Lanzador a futuristic and rebellious look. Equipped with two electric motors that facilitate seamless all-wheel drive, the Lanzador offers unmatched performance irrespective of the terrain and the driving conditions. The majestic exterior of the 2029 Lanzador EV combined with its high-ground clearance gives drivers the best of both worlds. With a peak power that exceeds 1,340 horses (estimated), the Lanzador is set to be one of the most powerful production EVs ever.

Even though it has drawn design inspirations from Murciélago, Countach LPI 800-4, and Sesto Elemento, the striking resemblance to Revuelto and Urus is unmissable. The presence of control systems on the steering wheel means that the drivers can easily adjust the control systems on the go. This enables the drivers to quickly switch between settings to best suit their driving styles and conditions. The use of merino wool and regenerated carbon fiber in the interior of this next-gen car is a reflection of Automobili Lamborghini's commitment to sustainability. The use of 3D-printed recycled fibers in the sports seats of this car is also a sustainable feature worth noting. The 2029 Lanzador EV is also equipped with advanced features like:

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini describes the 2029 Lanzador as a representation of 60 years of the company’s DNA.

Through constant R&D, innovation, and experimentation, Lamborghini has struck the perfect balance between performance, safety, and visual appeal. The Lamborghini Lanzador boasts a plethora of driving features capable of disrupting the HPEV industry. The most outstanding feature is its flagship Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata (LDVI) driving dynamics control system. LDVI driving dynamics control system includes integrating more sensors and actuators for finer and more precise driving behavior.

The crucial innovations are not limited to the hardware but also to the control algorithm that manages the components. More number of sensors means more data is fed to the control system, thus refining the algorithm in delivering the nuances of driving sensations and feedback. This ensures a unique driving experience for each driver due to the information delivered back to the driver by intelligent sensors positioned behind the new pilot's glass panels that are mounted at the front of the car. The cutting-edge air suspension and maneuverable rear axle enable the drivers to exercise absolute control over this mean machine.

Aerodynamics is a crucial element in high-performance cars. The Active Aerodynamics in the Lanzador enables the car to move swiftly. Employed in both ends of the car, this feature improves the performance of the Lanzador in different driving modes. Active Aerodynamics increases downforce in Performance mode while it increases the range in Urban mode. With the Lanzador, Lamborghini intends to deliver a high-performance electric vehicle that ticks all the boxes. From ergonomic interiors and high performance to safety and a futuristic design, the Lanzador gets everything correct.

The scope for speculation is plenty whenever the Bolognese automobile giants announce a new concept. There is plenty of buzz in the market and no dearth of speculations about the price of the Lanzador, a concept car that is planned to be launched in 2028. The price range of this all-electric concept car from Lamborghini has not been revealed by the company. However, owing to the legendary status of Lamborghini and the impeccable specs that this car is promised to feature, the price will be sky-high.

Model

MSRP

Rimac Nevera

$2.1 million

Deus Vayanne

$2 million

Rolls-Royce Spectre

$400,000

Lamborghini Lanzador EV

$350,000 (estimated)

Cadillac Celestiq

$300,000

Lucid Air Sapphire

$249,000

Considering the position of the Lanzador EV within the Lamborghini lineup which must be between Huracan’s successor and the Urus, it is safe to assume the price tag would be somewhere around the $350,000 region. As with any other Lamborghini vehicle, the 2029 Lanzador EV is also expected to be a holy grail for many. However, considering what the Bologna-based automotive manufacturer has to offer, we cannot really complain about the hefty price tag. Lamborghini might have healthy competition in Lucid, Rolls-Royce, and many others in the luxury EV category. This all-electric hypercar is certainly much awaited by automotive fans around the globe and there's no doubt about that!

Sharan has to thank NFS 2 (the split-screen version) for his interest in cars. From there, it grew from collecting wallpapers to being interested in F1 and then writing about supercars! Arguably nothing can distract him when he's writing about cars. Except for the sound of a V8 engine. Yes, that can surely distract him.(VRROOOOMMM!!) Okay, Brb.
